Teams that reward employees in more than one country usually hit the same wall: a retailer gift card bought for the United States does not work for a colleague in Toronto, and a card denominated in one currency loses value or fails outright somewhere else. This guide answers the four questions we hear most often about covering a global workforce, using what Giftronaut publishes on its product pages.
Yes. Giftronaut sends rewards to recipients in more than 90 countries from a single account, and each recipient redeems in their own local brands and currency. The International Gift Card page describes it as rewarding people in Chicago, Berlin, and Vancouver from one account, each in their own currency, with automatic conversion and no extra conversion fees.
Two reward types make that possible:
Country coverage is a starting point, not a guarantee. Before a large send, confirm the recipient country, redemption currency, and available catalog for every market in the program.
Giftronaut offers a Canada-specific prepaid Visa denominated in Canadian dollars. The prepaid card page lists the Canada option as local currency for Canadian recipients, CAD amounts from $5 to $1,000, region Canada only, Visa network, six-month expiration, no fees, and support for Google Pay and Apple Pay for online and in-store shopping.
That matters for a US company paying in USD: the sender keeps funding in USD while the Canadian employee receives value in CAD, so the recipient does not carry the foreign-transaction cost that a US-issued card would create.
The same Canada prepaid option is available on the Mastercard network. According to the prepaid card page, the Canada option supports both Visa and Mastercard, in CAD, from $5 to $1,000, with no fees. Expiration differs by network: Visa six months, Mastercard one year. If a program needs the longer window for Canadian recipients, the Mastercard version is the one to select.
Orders are placed the same way as any other Giftronaut send: customize the branded template, upload the recipient list, and deliver by email, or download reward links to distribute yourself.
Yes. The global Visa and Mastercard options on the prepaid card page are described as one card that works in any country, funded in USD. Published details:
Because the global card is funded in USD, a recipient who spends in another currency pays a non-USD transaction fee. For recipients concentrated in one country, the country-specific option (USA or Canada) avoids that fee. For a scattered team, the global card or a Choice Card in local currency are the two practical choices.
Unredeemed prepaid value is not necessarily lost either. With the Refund Option selected at checkout, eligible unredeemed rewards return up to 50% of the unused balance as Giftronaut account credit, depending on the 30-, 60-, or 90-day window chosen.
Use the Choice Card when recipients should pick their own brand, the Canada Visa or Mastercard when recipients are in Canada and should spend in CAD without fees, the USA Visa for US-only teams, and the global Visa or Mastercard when one USD-funded card must work anywhere. Review the prepaid card and international gift card pages against your recipient list before funding the order.
