No Platform Fee Gift Card Rewards: What Giftronaut Charges

Corporate gift card budget overview showing reward value, funding method and optional product costs

A no-fee gift card rewards platform can remove subscription and per-card charges from a corporate program: Giftronaut charges no platform, subscription, setup, or per-card fee. Your budget still needs to account for the rewards themselves, your funding method, and any optional payout or product-specific spending fees.

What does a no-fee gift card rewards platform include?

On Giftronaut, you can run a reward program without paying for a platform subscription or a fee on each card. That is useful when you want a one-time employee thank-you, a monthly recognition program, or customer rewards without a recurring software bill.

The reward value is still part of your budget. Removing a platform fee does not mean every payment method or every redemption option has the same cost.

Our pricing page separates the platform from those other charges. Read the table below as a way to plan an order: what your company pays to send it, then what the selected product may cost the recipient to use.

Cost Giftronaut charge What it means for your plan
Platform, subscription, setup, and per-card fees None No recurring platform bill or added fee for each card
Account funding by ACH or wire No funding fee Plan ahead for the transfer to reach your balance
Account funding by credit card 3% processing fee Include it when deciding how much to add
Standard gift card redemption No recipient redemption fee Recipient claims the selected gift card without this charge
Optional Payout Options 4%, minimum $0.25, if sender-covered; 6%, minimum $1, if recipient-covered Decide whether to offer payouts and who pays
Global prepaid-card spending Depends on the product and transaction Check the country and currency before choosing the card

A platform comparison is useful only if the quotes cover the same order. A vendor with no subscription fee may still charge for payment processing, while a card with no activation fee may charge when spent in another currency. Ask which charge is waived rather than treating the word free as the whole answer.

How would you budget a 100-person reward order?

Start with the reward amounts, then add the fees for the options you choose. For an illustrative order of 100 rewards at $50 each, the reward budget is $5,000.

Funding choice Reward budget Giftronaut processing fee on a $5,000 deposit
ACH or wire $5,000 $0
Credit card $5,000 $150, calculated as $5,000 × 3%

This example uses standard gift cards, with Payout Options disabled. It compares Giftronaut’s funding fee only; your bank’s charges and later product-specific spending fees are outside this calculation.

The $150 card-processing fee belongs to the sender’s funding decision. It is not a $1.50 deduction from each employee’s gift card. Our funding guide confirms the rates and the $100 minimum funding request.

Timing helps you choose. ACH typically takes 2 to 5 business days and wire 1 to 2 after you send the funds. Card funding is almost instant during US business hours, but processing or additional verification can take longer. All orders require available funds first, so a scheduled reward date is a reason to plan funding early.

For a full comparison of the payment steps and timing, see bank transfer versus card funding.

Which reward choices can add costs?

Payouts and international prepaid spending are the main choices to examine after funding. They are optional or product-specific, rather than a platform subscription.

Offering Payout Options

Payout Options let recipients choose services such as PayPal or Venmo. You can leave them disabled if your program only needs gift cards.

If the sender covers the fee, it is 4% with a minimum of $0.25 per recipient. On a Choice Card order with Payout Options enabled, that fee is charged upfront for every recipient, including those who later select a standard gift card.

If the recipient covers it, the fee is 6% with a minimum of $1, deducted only when they select a payout. A recipient who chooses a standard gift card instead does not pay that payout fee. The Payout Options policy explains both settings.

Choosing a global prepaid card

Check the spending currency as well as the recipient’s location. For example, the Global Visa Reward Card is issued in USD. USD purchases have no transaction fee, while non-USD purchases carry a 3% international transaction fee plus a 3% foreign-exchange fee, totaling 6%. For the currency rules behind that fee, see our guide to non-USD fees on employee gift cards.

A local brand card suits someone who plans to spend entirely in local currency. Our international e-gift card comparison helps you choose, and the Visa fee policy gives the product conditions.

What happens to rewards that employees never claim?

An unclaimed reward is different from an unused account balance. For a sent reward, decide whether to use the Refund Option when you place the order.

The default redemption window is 180 days, with no refund through that option. If you select the Refund Option, fully unredeemed rewards return part of their value to your Giftronaut balance after the chosen window closes:

Refund option and redemption windows explained

This is a choice about the recipient’s time to claim the reward as well as your budget. It cannot be added after sending, and a partially redeemed reward does not qualify. Review the Refund Option before using it for a time-limited campaign.

What should you decide before your first corporate reward order?

Prepare a short order brief with the recipient group, reward amount, product, funding method, and send date. Those decisions are enough to turn an open-ended platform search into a specific cost check.

  • Recipients: Identify the countries involved. The same brand can have separate country-specific products.
  • Reward choice: Use a known local brand when it fits, or let recipients choose from their available options.
  • Amounts: Set the amount for each person and confirm the selected product’s minimum and maximum.
  • Funding and timing: Allow time for the deposit to arrive before the planned send.
  • Optional settings: Decide whether you need Payout Options or a shorter redemption window before creating the order.

For a one-time employee thank-you, a standard gift card order is enough. For a recurring recognition program, also decide who maintains the recipient list and initiates the next deposit: Giftronaut does not automatically replenish your balance. If the campaign is international, check country coverage before promising one brand to everyone.

Running the program with Giftronaut

We support individual and bulk rewards, including a spreadsheet upload with different amounts for each person. A Choice Card lets recipients choose from 4,300+ brands across 225 countries, with availability varying by location; a Branded Gift Card lets you select the specific product upfront.

That means you can keep the program’s reward amounts consistent while offering people relevant choices. Our no-fee gift card guide covers the card-level choices once you have settled the program budget.

Plan the order, then compare the total

A useful cost comparison starts with the same recipients, reward amounts, and timing. Giftronaut removes platform and subscription fees; your funding method, optional settings, and selected products determine the other charges. Decide those details before depositing funds, and you will know what the order is intended to cost and what each recipient can use.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a gift card platform with no monthly subscription fee?

Yes. Giftronaut charges no platform, subscription, setup, or per-card fee. You still budget for the reward values and any fees attached to the funding method, optional settings or selected products.

Do gift card platforms charge a fee to add funds?

On Giftronaut, credit card deposits carry a 3% processing fee. ACH and wire deposits carry no Giftronaut funding fee, and accounts must be funded before ordering.

Can a corporate reward have no platform fee and no recipient redemption fee?

Yes. Giftronaut charges no platform fee, and standard gift card redemption has no recipient fee. Optional Payout Options and later spending charges on some prepaid products have separate conditions.

Do I get charged if an employee never redeems a reward?

No fee is triggered by non-redemption itself. The reward value is paid when the order is sent. Selecting the Refund Option before sending returns 50%, 40%, or 30% of fully unredeemed value after a 30-, 60-, or 90-day window; it cannot be added afterward.

How does a gift card platform make money if there are no fees?

Giftronaut earns a margin from many of the brands in its catalog. That revenue pays for the platform, so you pay for the rewards you send instead of subscriptions, platform fees, or per-seat licenses.

What is the minimum funding amount for a corporate rewards account?

A Giftronaut funding request starts at $100 USD. That is an account funding requirement, separate from the minimum and maximum amounts allowed on each reward product.
